M.I.S.S. Inc. Dashboard
Good morning
The situation in St. Lucie and Martin Counties, FL, reflects a significant challenge in providing affordable housing. In 2023, M.I.S.S. was Unable to provide housing with support services to over 400 qualified heads of households. This crisis is exacerbated by the limited affordable housing stock, resulting in many working-class citizens being unable to afford rental housing. The M.I.S.S. Dashboard highlights the urgency of the situation, emphasizing the need for immediate action to build or acquire housing that is affordable for individuals earning between 10% to 60% of the Area Median Income, which is currently at $84,500.00. This issue is part of a broader affordable housing crisis on the Treasure Coast of Florida, which requires community effort and innovative solutions. Collectively, we must come together and offer H.O.P.E. Housing Options that Promote Empowerment for All People and All Incomes.
On the Treasure Coast, there is a need to develop affordable housing communities that use an 80-20 percent affordability scale to ensure that more working-class citizens have access to affordable rental housing. This approach contrasts with the less effective 5-20 percent set-aside scale on new developments, which often fails to meet the population's demand for affordable units. Our vision extends beyond mere housing; it encompasses developing holistic communities where individuals can live, work, play, and raise their children in a nurturing environment. The success of M.I.S.S. Inc., with its 100% affordable housing units, exemplifies the potential impact of such a mission on the lives of many, ensuring that no one is left without a place to call home.
